Follow these simple steps to maximise the safety of your family and friends:
•Handling Chemicals
One of the most important thing to do when handling chemicals is to read the label.
- always dispose of spills properly and responsibly
- beware of chemical spills.
- never add water to chemicals – ADD chemicals to WATER.
- use the correct amount of chemicals for your pool.
- please keep chemicals out of reach of children.
- do NOT mix chemicals together.
- use a clean plastic stick or scoop when handling chemicals
- do not use one scoop for all of your chemicals.
2.Pool Safety
A swimming pool can be a great addition to your families leisure activities and fun. But it also can be a danger to family and friends who are unable to swim.
Complete regular checks on your swimming pool fence and locks.
- keep your pool clean and clear.
- keep a resuscitation chart in full view.
- keep outdoor furniture away from pool fences – so they cannot be climbed upon.
- always ensure there is adult supervision when children or inexperienced swimmers are in the pool.
- keep pool maintenance equipment in a secure area.
- hang or place a whistle or noise maker near the pool in case of an emergency.
- keep depth measures easy to read and no diving signs at shallow ends of the swimming pools.
- keep the pool water physically clean by removing leaves, dirt etc regularly. - - keep the pH level at 7.5
- keep the TA at about 100 - 160 mg/l to prevent pH fluctuation.
Water Level and Controls
It is important that the water level of the pool is normally about two thirds of the way up the skimmer box
opening and that it is not allowed to drop below the bottom of the skimmer box opening. If this happens the pump will draw air and may be damaged.
